For a very long tIme, I thought that rIch people were basically mean. And because of that point of view I decided that poor people must be kind. at was not my brightest moment. So, I decided that in order not to be like my parents and in order to become kind I therefore must also become poor. is uncon- scious decision created a path I set in motion for my life as a young girl.
I rebelled against the idea of marrying for money, God forbid, which is what my father recommended. I resisted that encouragement and yes, I was not aware for many years that I was actually creating a poverty consciousness in every area of my life. I created poverty in all my relationships by resisting anyone who was lthy rich. I never really thought about money too much and always expected it would be there. Some ambiguous place called “there” is where I thought money would be. Looking back, it was blind faith and also, not my brightest choice...
Whenever money is mentioned feelings and emotions arise. Money has such a charge on it, things such as worry, shame, guilt, lack, exhaustion and despair will often come up when talking about money.
What feelings do you have around money? Every feeling you have, even the positive ones, will lock you in.
We are often more willing to let go of feelings and emotions labelled as negative such as sadness, worry, anxiety, and doubt because these do not serve us as much and are not generally pleasant to be around. It is when we feel content, comfortable and satisfied that we hold onto it because we judge it as we are doing good. We have enough, things and working and if it’s not broken, don’t fix it, right? Not necessarily!
I often say it doesn’t matter who your parents were or how you were raised. The ability to prosper has nothing to do with how much money you have but, rather, what you are willing to create for yourself. So, how about focusing on wealth creation?
Creation is about stepping out of the points of view you have about money (which are normally the beliefs and perspectives you adopted from your parents, friends and communities) and opening yourself up to greater choice and opportunity. To create, you must stop coming to conclusions about who you are, what you are capable of and what you deserve, and start living in the infinite possibility of a question: If I was willing to create abundance for me, what would that look like?
Wealth Creation and Finding Prosperity.
I am very grateful that I had a chance to contribute to the creation of a documentary about Governor Ann Richards. It was an incredible gift. Recently, I have been asked a lot why I would invest in a creation of a movie.
Here are 4 reasons:
1. It was a moving compelling story that had never been told in a film.
2. The story is about a woman who is a democrat, and the first elected female to EVER be Gov. of Texas in its history….a story about a little girl from a poor town in Texas who through sheer hard work and grit became one of the most potent political figures of the 20th century.
